About Us

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has been playing a vital role in producing professionals of highest calibre ever since it was established in 1998. The department runs one under-graduate programme and one post-graduate programme (M.Tech. - Electrical Power Systems) to cater to the ever challenging needs of technical excellence in all areas of Electrical Engineering such as Power systems, Control Systems & Power Electronics. The department conducts regular seminars, guest lectures, workshops and technical symposiums on latest technologies.

The Department has obtained UGC-Autonomous Status in the Year 2014 and have been running programmes (B. Tech. & M. Tech.) successfully. The College Academic Council and Board of Studies of the department strive to provide quality education with the most advanced curriculum to make the students industry ready and excel in the contemporary business world.


The B. Tech. Programme under Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The Electrical and Electronics Engineering department is one of the recognized research centres for doctoral programs affiliated to JNTU Ananthapur since 2015. Full Time research scholars are eligible to register their doctoral programme under the guidance of highly qualified faculty with strong inclination towards research and development of innovative technologies like Power systems, Power Electronics and Drives and Control systems.

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Programme

The Department has designed its undergraduate programme to meet the industry requirements. The curriculum of the undergraduate programme provides the flexibility to students to learn advanced specializations. The department commits to offer a set of electives so that the students can plan their academic programme in advance. The course structure provides a right combination of compulsory and elective courses.

Curriculum

The B. Tech. Programme is divided into two distinct parts. A student has to go through a common programme called Core Curriculum. Most of the core curriculum is completed in the First four semesters. The last four semesters consists of more number of professional courses, for the students to become familiar with the concept of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

The Core Curriculum consists of a package of compulsory courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering Sciences and Technical Arts.

The Professional Curriculum consists of courses and Project Work. There are some compulsory courses, but there is a significant number of professional electives as well.

Control Systems and Simulation Lab:


Equipped with process control simulator kits, simulation of transfer function using OP-AMP kit, lead-lag network kit, temperature controller using PID controller, Synchro transmitter and receiver kits, PLC trainer kit, magnetic amplifier kit, oscilloscopes, dc motor, digital tachometer, multi meter and three systems installed with MATLAB verso pro, multisim software. NI MYRIO, Qunaser Qube Servo, Lab View Software.

Power Electronics and Simulation Lab:


Equipped with study of Device characteristics of SCR, MOSFET, DIAC,TRIAC kit.Firing Circuits for SCR (R, RC, UJT),Single phase AC voltage controller, Single Phase Cyclo converter with firing unit, three phase half controlled converters, Single Phase Dual converter with firing unit,Single phase series and paralle inverter kit, CRO, DSO, DC Jones chopper with firing unit, Single phase fully and half controlled bridge converter with firing units, R, RL Loads.

Electrical Circuits and Simulation Lab:


Equipped with bread boards, Regulated power supply, Function generator, CROs, Resistors, Capacitors, Inductors and Capacitive boxes, Resistive and Inductive loads, Volt meters(MC meters & MI meters),Ammeters(MC meters & MI meters),auto transformers, wattmeter's (upf & lpf),systems with PSPICE software.

Electrical Engineering Lab:

Master of Technology (M.Tech) Programme

The Department has the two postgraduate programmes required in the industry of Electrical Engineering. The course curriculum for the postgraduate programmes gives the flexibility to the students in learning advanced courses. The department commits to offer a set of electives so that students can plan their academic programme in advance. The course structure provides a good combination of compulsory and elective courses.

Curriculum

In the M.Tech Programme a student has to go through a common core curriculum. The core curriculum is completed in First two semesters. In the last two semesters, the student has to give a seminar on any advanced topic related to Electrical Engineering and allied fields. In addition, student has to work on individual project in his/her field of interest. Each student will be allotted to an experienced individual faculty member for guidance based on their chosen field for the project. During this project period, each student need to submit three status reports, indicating their project progress, along with final thesis report at their final review. Each student must publish one research paper on his/her project/work at any Conference/Journal.

A National Level Students Technical Symposium

Description of the event

The papers called for the symposium in the major areas such as Power Electronics & Drives, Non conventional &Renewable Energy Sources, Smart Grid & Distributed Generation, Reliability Engineering, Special Machines, Advances In Power Systems, Any Emerging Technology’s held on 27 on March 2012 in EEE Seminar Hall, MITS, Madanapalle. A brochure and poster were sent to more than 225 colleges for wide publicity and getting good response. We have received 240 papers from various colleges spread across the country. In that 40 papers are selected for oral presentation.

Dr. M. Vijaya Kumar M.Tech.,Ph.D., Professor in EEE department, former Registrar, JNTU-Anatapur attend as a chief guest and M.Ramprasad Reddy,M.tech.,(PhD)., HOD-EEE-Priyadarshini College of engineering-Tirupati, S.Rafi Kiran, Associte Professor, SITAMS,Chittoor, to be acted as a Judges during the presentations. Based on their evaluation, following prize winners were selected; First prize: M.Aswini and P.Sailasri, SITAMS, Chittoor for paper titiled “ ENERGY AUDITING”, Second prize:A.Ashok,P.Harinath Reddy, Shree College Of Engineering for the paper titled “Motionless Electromagnetic Generator” , Third Prize: K.Pavani Reddy and G.Krishna Pujitha, MITS, Madanapalle for paper titled “Rotor Current Measurement using Blootooth Technology”.
